The printing of wood engravings was most extensively seen in the series of books Sebastian designed and produced for the Primrose Academy, beginning with Anatolii Kalashnikov’s three-colour blocks for The Dostoyevsky Suite (1994) and continuing with collections of contemporary engravers’ work under the general title of ‘The Engraver’s Cut’. Artists featured included Diana Bloomfield, Simon Brett, Raymond Gloeckler, John Lawrence, Miriam Macgregor, Frank Martin, Hilary Paynter and Yvonne Skargon. There were also a few other titles such as Harry Brockway’s illustrations for Crime and Punishment. The last Primrose Academy book appeared in 2004.
